An alarm rationalisation pass takes the alarms that fire on a freshly-commissioned BMS estate and reclassifies them by operator action. The output is a smaller, prioritised alarm queue that an operator can actually action — and a documented basis for why every alarm survives.

The classification

  • Priority 1 — requires immediate operator action; failure to act has consequence within minutes.
  • Priority 2 — requires action this shift; degradation if ignored.
  • Priority 3 — informational; logged, not actively presented.
  • Suppressed — symptomatic of another active higher-priority alarm; auto-grouped under the parent.
